After settling in Longcheng, the cold weather that sets in reminds Shen Wei and Wu Xie of how they once breathed together. And maybe it promises them that they will still be there when time passes, appreciating what they never wish they had let go.

In the bleak industrial wastelands of Dixing, a mother poisons herself and her twin sons in an attempt to escape the collective abject misery and poverty that envelopes their existence.

A decade later, an undergraduate senior proceeds with a sensitive research topic for his honors thesis.

Son of Haixing housing mafia's boss, seeking redemption from a painful past, with his estrangement from his family spawning feelings of self-loathing, finds himself irrevocably, devastatingly drawn towards the person that threatens to topple his life as he has always known it.

"Yunlan—" Shen Wei began.

"Xiao Wei—" Zhao Yunlan accosted him with widened eyes and the expression that usually distracted Shen Wei enough to quell his protests.

Nonetheless, Shen Wei persisted. “I don’t believe I receive any bonus, so you can’t take it from me,” he said drily.

“No, I was just going to say, it’s for research! You appreciate that, right?!”

Shen Wei was not going to start this argument again. The fact of Kunlun regaining his powers had, somehow, given him a thirst for testing out how mountain god capabilities interacted with modern technology.

He stumbled, foot sliding on the rocky ground. Searing pain turned his vision white for a moment before returning to the blurry mess from before. A hiss escaping his lips. A firm, yet gentle arm tightened it's hold on his waist. It was the only thing keeping him upright at this point.

Zhao Yunlan returns late from work one cold evening to find Shen Wei knitting him a gift, taking this new development in his stride - Captain Zhao seeks an escape in the means of finding the answer to solving a cold case that has resurfaced and fallen at this investigation team's door.

Of all the things Shen San would like to know about the brother demon, he doesn't always ask. But his heart seems broken by love and not by the lack of it. Perhaps there is a story that can be revealed, a memory that still remains.

Shen Wei still has nightmares about the time he couldn't protect Shen San - a time he failed. Telling Wu Xie that Kunlun got hurt because he failed in his promise is something he still fears.

In a rush, as though afraid he won't be able to get the words out if he doesn't do it all at once, Shen Wei says, "I thought I saw Gui Mian…in the surveillance footage from Hangzhou."

"This is definitely your fault," Wu Xie glares at Pangzi.
"What? Slander! It's you they're asking about, how does that make it my fault?" Pangzi asks.
"You were the one complaining two weeks ago about how boring things have been. You definitely jinxed us." 

In which the Guardian team lends a hand for a mystery Wu Xie still wonders about.

Like everyone in Longcheng, Zhao Yunlan grew up hearing stories of the dragon whose body encircled the city. Most of them said that Longcheng’s prosperity—and isolated safety from the demons that were said to haunt the mainland—were due to the dragon’s guardianship, which made sense; why else would the city be named as it was? There was nothing particularly draconic about the city, nor any mountain or lake shaped like a dragon’s face. It must be named in thanksgiving, or so the legends went.

Still, it was one thing to hear the stories.

It was quite another to meet them face-to-face.

Shen Wei, Wu Xie and Zhao Yunlan have a talk about the thunder and how Wu Xie actually lost his soulfire.

The team climbs up the mountain (Kunlun) and everything seems to be going great. Until it's not and now Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei have to figure out how to save a soul.

A super short story - Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan, a married couple, taking advantage of the quiet time of the holiday and having an escapade in the office after hours. It's mature but not explicit - still 19+ imho.

With Zhao Yunlan's recklessness, the truth is out. Now, he has to deal with the consequences while the team decides to travel all the way to Kunlun Mountain to hopefully find out more about the blade and its backstory.

Zhao Yunlan sets aside his anger and does what his heart wants to.
