His voice trembled as he whispered, “I can wait.”

Chu Sizhui lips curled into a faint smile as he leaned closer, his breath warm against Guo Changcheng skin. “Are you sure? Your body seems to say otherwise.”

Tears welled in Guo Changcheng eyes as his body shook, caught between the aching need and the desire to prove himself, prove how good he could be for Chu Sizhui.

At the intersection of the road between the end of the city and the beginning of the countryside, Lin Jing walked along the roadside, turning around once to look at the buildings that were beginning to fade into the distance, which he hoped would soon disappear. Ahead of him was a verdant, budding and flourishing nature that he might not have had the pleasure of seeing again now, if not for the events and sacrifices of a few weeks ago.
But had absolutely all the sacrifices really been necessary?
As he walked the path ahead, perhaps the answers he didn't expect were exactly the ones he needed to find. Fake monk or not, he believed what he believed, and redemption was not a negotiable commodity. Sometimes all it took was a hand to reach out and change the course of everything.

“Fuck me so hard you’ll have to call me in sick,” Zhao Yunlan tells Shen Wei.

“But you’d be hard-pressed to deny that there’s what we like to call a profile here. A victim profile. One which you match with, to quote Lin Jing, 92% overlap. One of them even had fish in his office,” he says, almost accusatorily, thumbing at Shen Wei’s fish tank.

Shen Wei looks at the fish tank, then back at Zhao Yunlan. “I’m not sure I’m following the significance of this.”

OR: Faced with a string of murders targeting university professors much like Shen Wei, Zhao Yunlan assigns himself to keep Shen Wei safe. Shen Wei cannot seem to convince the man that he does not require a bodyguard.

Chu Shuzhi finds out he has Hanahaki Disease when he coughs up petals in front of the reason he got it, because of course he fucking does.

Luckily, he was able to hide them before Changcheng could see them, but holy shit does he have some major avoiding to do, because beautiful things should never be covered in blood.

“What are you looking at? I did that for her own good. How dare she try to poach someone from Kunlun-jun? I’m astounded that the idea even crossed her mind.” Chu Shuzhi stuffed Guo Changcheng into the car, then he stretched out his long legs.

“Drive,” he ordered, “Take me home first.”

And Guo Changcheng, face flushing and heart throbbing, took him home.

Shen Wei rises from the ocean in hopes of soaking in the sun. Another dragon comes into his life and begins flirting with him relentlessly. Shen Wei does not know what to do and that was the scariest part of it; their encounters and Zhao Yunlan’s ambition to make him his.

“I haven't seen you around here before,” Zhao Yunlan said with a toothy grin. “a little elusive?”

“I am from the sea,” he replied instead. “You shouldn't flaunt your feathers so readily.”

“Oh? Why do you think so?”

“It is inappropriate.”

Shen Wei simply wanted to help out. He had the best of intentions.

He hadn’t intended to sneak away with anything, much less Zhao Yunlan's shirt.

These deaths are caused by Dixingren somehow, he affirms. Zhao Yunlan watches him, as he always does. The long, fine-boned stretch of his hands. The flash of his uncovered throat inside the gloaming of his hood, like a birch tree in the dark. The Black-Cloaked Envoy’s eyes fall to his, sometimes, when they talk. Zhao Yunlan can feel the weight of his gaze.
