“Fuck me so hard you’ll have to call me in sick,” Zhao Yunlan tells Shen Wei.

He wakes up more tired than usual.

It’s been like this for a couple of days, but Shen Wei hasn’t thought much of it. A lot has happened in a short time, after all, and he is in many ways still getting used to this. Having a soul. Being alive. Getting to live this life. It’s something he had never thought possible before. Never dared to even imagine. Not for him.

or, five thousand years Shen Wei has spent swimming with the current, hiding away in its whirls and eddies, hoping that the river might somehow wash him clean, but now it’s time he learns to swim against it. To bathe himself again in mud and clay. To go home.

“But you’d be hard-pressed to deny that there’s what we like to call a profile here. A victim profile. One which you match with, to quote Lin Jing, 92% overlap. One of them even had fish in his office,” he says, almost accusatorily, thumbing at Shen Wei’s fish tank.

Shen Wei looks at the fish tank, then back at Zhao Yunlan. “I’m not sure I’m following the significance of this.”

OR: Faced with a string of murders targeting university professors much like Shen Wei, Zhao Yunlan assigns himself to keep Shen Wei safe. Shen Wei cannot seem to convince the man that he does not require a bodyguard.

Chu Shuzhi finds out he has Hanahaki Disease when he coughs up petals in front of the reason he got it, because of course he fucking does.

Luckily, he was able to hide them before Changcheng could see them, but holy shit does he have some major avoiding to do, because beautiful things should never be covered in blood.

“What are you looking at? I did that for her own good. How dare she try to poach someone from Kunlun-jun? I’m astounded that the idea even crossed her mind.” Chu Shuzhi stuffed Guo Changcheng into the car, then he stretched out his long legs.

“Drive,” he ordered, “Take me home first.”

And Guo Changcheng, face flushing and heart throbbing, took him home.

Shen Wei rises from the ocean in hopes of soaking in the sun. Another dragon comes into his life and begins flirting with him relentlessly. Shen Wei does not know what to do and that was the scariest part of it; their encounters and Zhao Yunlan’s ambition to make him his.

“I haven't seen you around here before,” Zhao Yunlan said with a toothy grin. “a little elusive?”

“I am from the sea,” he replied instead. “You shouldn't flaunt your feathers so readily.”

“Oh? Why do you think so?”

“It is inappropriate.”

Shen Wei simply wanted to help out. He had the best of intentions.

He hadn’t intended to sneak away with anything, much less Zhao Yunlan's shirt.

Zhao Yunlan can feel the weight of his gaze.

OR: Zhao Yunlan is the last victim of SID's latest case: a Dixingren whose power is to amplify the heart's desire a hundred-fold.

Zhao Yunlan couldn’t help but flirt with Shen Wei 10,000 years ago. He hadn’t meant to, but he couldn’t control who he was nor resist the younger, more delicate version of the man he was already head over heels for. He realized too late it being his own doing making Shen Wei fall in love with Kunlun and himself in the future. He wouldn’t think twice of giving Shen Wei the whole world, anything to make him happy, but he knows how this part of the story ends so what he wants to give most must be withheld. Only for a time though.

"What is Shen Wei's current location?" At the Marshal's question, Zhu Hong took a moment longer to look at him.
"Does he even leave the basement lab?”
"Inform him that I'm coming down. I want Wang Zheng here in the command room. Lin Jing, you will monitor the reactivation." Zhao Yunlan finished the last few words as the door to the room closed behind him.
“Reactivation,” Lin Jing quickly moved to another chair, to execute the commands on the system that Zhao Yunlan had been looking at before leaving. "As if that thing was ever actually activated... Hong-jie, tell me the Marshal isn't about to do something suicidal..."
Zhu Hong sighed heavily. She always knew that there would never be time for a proper goodbye and the words she had never said.
