Shen Wei and Gui Mian both go into the Guardian Lantern when they do in canon. The wick is still lit, but Shen Wei doesn’t come back out immediately. He and Gui Mian instead get reincarnated because they have to have their souls appropriately connected to them. Gui Mian reincarnates first.

He looks at Kunlun's side profile, so close, so peaceful, so absolutely breathtaking, and he wants to feel the scratchiness of his jaw under his lips. He wants to hear the sounds Kunlun would make if he did that, soft gasps maybe, or a low groan, his neck vibrating under Shen Wei's kisses. He wants to slip his finger into Kunlun's mouth, like the sweet treat they shared, and feel the warm wetness of it. He wants— He just wants, so incredibly much that his body can barely contain it.

They didn't part on best terms, but they are still siblings.

He gets to kiss his Long-ge. Somehow, impossibly, it's not a dream anymore.

It's always Shen Wei, who cries first.

The possibility of getting all of this back, even if it still doesn't mean anything more, even if it's only for a few months again, is intoxicating and takes his breath away.

Many times he had tried not to go back, telling himself that he had already satisfied all his sexual curiosities, that he did not depend on it. That he would not become a slave to it as once - he now realized - he had been a slave to the hunger. And 'staying' implied permanence. He had no intention of staying there, in the human world, with that person, or even alone. He also had not, before, possessed any intention of anything other than 'knowing what sex felt like', just once, just enough to try to understand types of emotions that he seemed incapable of, but that his brother possessed. Just enough to disturb a little of the spiritual peace of that man, who perhaps had failed to be a monk - or perhaps never had tried.
