Shen Wei had lived for over 10,000 years: searching, waiting, learning, and keeping the peace. Throughout that time he lost himself a little bit and was just going through the motions as the Envoy and dedicating his time as a Professor to his students. Especially the one Dixing student he had saved that now insisted Shen Wei was a savior to them all. Every thing was fine until he came across a corpse, a student hanging from a cord, and a familiar face in a window.

A re-write of Guardian with Shen Wei whump and Zhao Yunlan paying closer attention and stubbornly insisting on taking care of Shen Wei. Also a new take on the Hallows, what if they got annoyed at the unsuccessful time loops and decided to help out a bit by giving Shen Wei premonitions? What of all those close calls SID had were only close calls because Shen Wei knew they were going to happen before it actually occurred?

Zhao Yunlan liked how it was between them. He knew the romantic feelings he felt when he started dating someone was different than how he felt with Lin Jing. His best friend. The one he trusted the most in this world… and the one he happened to have casual sex with whenever he wasn’t in a relationship.
One statement, though, and he had Lin Jing reevaluating all of that.
Over the years, what had started as a mix of curiosity and mutual trust to experience and enjoy pleasure, had become a form of affection that was unique to them - their sex didn't start in bed and didn't end in the aftercare. There was more to that, a seemingly unbreakable friendship that had not been shaken by Zhao Yunlan's other relationships, but had been strengthened by their duties in the Department, by the multiple times they had entrusted their lives to each other.
Regardless of whether their feelings for each other were named or remained just the silent understanding between them, it was good enough. Most of the time.

“Yunlan,” Shen Wei said, the admonition at complete odds with the rasp in his voice and the way his hips stuttered up into Zhao Yunlan’s, “you still have forms to sign.” He nodded at Zhao Yunlan’s desk beside them, where there was indeed a stack of papers, only half read, that had been left there by Wang Zheng the night before.

In response, Zhao Yunlan pressed a string of kisses against the line of Shen Wei’s jaw, each one leading inevitably to the next. While Shen Wei was distracted, he moved one hand, the heel pressing against where Shen Wei strained hard against the seam of his pants.

Or, Shen Wei pays a visit to Zhao Yunlan at work. Zhao Yunlan proceeds to get exactly...no work done.
