What if things didn't quite go the way it originally did? What if Shen Wei wasn't as alone as he thought he was?

Shen Wei had lived for over 10,000 years: searching, waiting, learning, and keeping the peace. Throughout that time he lost himself a little bit and was just going through the motions as the Envoy and dedicating his time as a Professor to his students. Especially the one Dixing student he had saved that now insisted Shen Wei was a savior to them all. Every thing was fine until he came across a corpse, a student hanging from a cord, and a familiar face in a window.

A re-write of Guardian with Shen Wei whump and Zhao Yunlan paying closer attention and stubbornly insisting on taking care of Shen Wei. Also a new take on the Hallows, what if they got annoyed at the unsuccessful time loops and decided to help out a bit by giving Shen Wei premonitions? What of all those close calls SID had were only close calls because Shen Wei knew they were going to happen before it actually occurred?

When Wu Xie finds an injured Zhao Yunlan on the streets, he goes out of his way to help the other back to his apartment, both because of genuine concern and interest in who is beating people up on his family's turf. Zhao Yunlan accepts help from a stranger in a moment of pain filled desperation and has to handle the stubborn help Wu Xie offers.

“My soulmate died,” Guo Changcheng says softly. “That’s what they say, at least. What the burn mark means.” He looks up in quiet despair. “It’s true, isn’t it?”

Chu Shuzhi feels his own scarred mark flare up, like it’s burning all over again. A scorching reminder of what he’s done and what he’s lost.

“Yes,” he says hoarsely. “It’s true.”

After Vice Minister Guo receives a death threat, Chu Shuzhi is called upon to protect his nephew and keep him safe. Except Guo Changcheng seems determined to make his job a difficult one.

Shen Wei still hadn’t turned up anywhere, and the only clue they had was this damn game he apparently sent to Zhao Yunlan.

And Zhao Yunlan still had no idea why he did that, and how he knew Zhao Yunlan at all.

“So what’s the plan here?” Da Qing asked, mumbling slightly. He was obviously eating something, probably sprawled in a chair, while here Zhao Yunlan was, running his ass off. “You will level up enough to use that key, open a magical door, and then Shen Wei will come out clad all in white and swoon into your waiting arms?”

He sounded so amused, too. He was obviously getting a kick out of this.

“Sadly no, but maybe we will figure out why the last thing he did before pulling a Houdini was sending me an unreleased game,” Zhao Yunlan grumbled. “And I do not want Shen Wei to fall into my arms.”

“Oh please,” Da Qing snorted. “I’ve seen the pictures of this guy. You obviously do.”

"Hey, no one is injured, right?" Da Qing asks after sniffing the air.

The team stops their walking and turns to him. Zhu Hong raises her eyebrow at him: "Yes, why do you ask that?"

Da Qing sniffs the air skeptically again: "Because I smell blood, just faintly, but there is blood sense in the air!"

It's such a shock that he can't think of anything else to do than duck and hide behind the window sill. It's a ridiculous thing to do, but Zhao Yunlan's heart has never reacted to anyone like that before.

It takes him a moment to gather himself, he can feel his heart quivering, tucked away and hidden and he almost wants to take it out and see what's wrong with it.
