There is something ironic and agonizingly poetic, Shen Wei thinks, about him being chained to Ye Zun’s pillar, bound with Ye Zun’s dark energy, bloodied and tortured by Ye Zun’s hand, and waiting for Ye Zun to save him.
Zhao Yunlan thought he was prepared for what he might find when he found Shen Wei. When. Not if. When. Thought that after days of staying awake to avoid the Master of Nightmares’ dream-traps, of torturing himself with waking nightmares of what might be happening to Shen Wei, he had imagined every possibility. That reality had to be better than all the worst-case scenarios his brain had tormented him with.Part 2 of The Blood I Bleed Is Red
He was wrong.
He knew that when he found Xiao Guo alone with Shen Wei’s blade, injured but safe, that Shen Wei had to be alive. He would find Shen Wei, rescue him from whatever hell Ye Zun had trapped him in, and get them all safely back to the SID, hopefully killing Ye Zun along the way. Zhao Yunlan would take Shen Wei and Xiao Guo home to heal and they would be okay. As long as Shen Wei was still breathing, he would be okay.
He was wrong.
