Wei finds a part of Shennong's notes and a little bowl among Shennong's old things and exchanges the notes for learning and teaching as he is searching for Kunlun's reincarnation that first time. He comes to find he loves the village.

"So, how long until you forget all about me?" Bai Yu says into Long-ge's shirt with a cheeky smile, not letting his voice crack. Sometimes they're both a bit too good at acting. "Find someone else you'll feed breakfast every morning?"

"A-Wei," Shen San says. "Leave it for now. Come here."

From where he's kneeling before the small table, Shen Wei doesn't look up. He simply keeps working the mortar and pestle with tireless effort.

Memories come and go after he meets Shen Wei.

The mountain god with his little furball, thousands of years apart.

It should be frustrating for a god to be the object of the fierce, all-consuming possessiveness of the King of the Gui, but Kunlun smiles through the curtain of his own damp hair when Wei presses him further into the pillows.

Shen Wei would not leave him behind, could not.
Only he did. He pushed Yunlan out, his eyes soft and his teeth bloody. He died.
And the chasm that only seemed to bother Zhao occasionally, now swallowed him whole.

Zhao Yunlan survives the Guardian Lantern and now has to live with the aftermath of Shen Wei's sacrifice.
He is not doing so well.

A collection of drabble / short fics about chuguo (Chu Shuzhi/Guo Changcheng), published on tumblr as p-inkgangstaring.

There are dreams in which Chu Shuzhi gets close to achieving a kind of happiness he hasn’t felt in centuries.

He's struck by the paradox of it — their easy closeness in public, which they could never have behind closed doors because it would mean so much more there.
