Chu Shuzhi, Guo Changcheng, and Ye Huo are unexpectedly summoned to Chief Zhao's office.

Zhao Yunlan snags the seat across the table from him and leans in, familiar and intimate. "Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?" he asks, simply to see Shen Wei blush.

There it is—a faint hint of redness along the exquisite curve of his ears. Zhao Yunlan doesn't hide the smirk that comes to his mouth at the sight of it. Making Shen Wei blush will never get old, no matter how many times he does it.

Or, Zhao Yunlan likes to pester Shen Wei.

The god who had brought them into existence didn't seem to remember that there were two of them and one of them had been left behind.
He could feel that piece of his heart that he tried to keep alive even when he himself was not a living being, slowly dying inside his chest, even when it was beating so hard like he had never felt before.

Zhao Yunlan gets himself nearly killed, yet again. Shen Wei is there to make him better, yet again. And if healing Zhao Yunlan is suspiciously close to sucking him off...well, that's just the price that must be paid.

They're idly scrolling through fan comments, Long-ge's head on Bai Yu's chest, and a gif of young Shen Wei doing downright obscene things with the candy sends Bai Yu down the memory lane.

"You're the one to talk."

"The ancients say that it is better not to poke our noses into things that are outside of our control. Chief Zhao, tell me how different do you think dixingren are from us?"

"They feel pain, happiness, sadness, pleasure, just like us. Whether we are human, spirit, or dixingren, we have the same right to live."

"I don't care what you think of him! He may be Hei Pao Shi, he may be one-third ghost, one-third god, and one-third dixingren, but he is not immortal, and if you don't go help him, then I will!"

"You can't just go out like this!"

"You are forgetting one thing, Brother Ma Gui... In my time, I'm the Guardian. A group of ghosts are nothing for me!"

A retelling of the Guardian story, fusing the TV and the novel story together, with twists and turns and the best parts of both worlds.

Bai Yu's embrace and his soft, sleepy voice are even warmer than the morning sunshine that fills the hotel room, and Zhu Yilong basks in them happily for a moment before replying. "Mhm. You were talking in your sleep."
