Four first kisses, and one that's not the last.

Zhao Yunlan, Chief of the SID, got a call that tells him there is potential Dixing activity on Huoxing, one planet outwards from Haixing. Never one to waste a chance, he dangled the chance of a Huoxing trip in front of the hot professor. It went much better than the attempt with the old books, and now Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei are tumbling through the void towards Huoxing.

In Zhao Yunlan's apartment, Shen Wei ushered him to the couch and stood over him as he slumped down. Zhao Yunlan threw his head back with a groan, exposing the line of his throat broken by the bulge of his Adam's apple. Looking up through half-closed eyes, he said, "Well, doc? What are you going to do with me now?"

Shen Wei was a recognized psychologist, a professor at the prestigious Dragon City University and a collaborator of the Special Investigation Unit of the police, in cases of serial murders. His life was normal, until a serial killer knocked on the doors of the University, choosing victims from the campus and becoming a victim when trying to save a student from been murder.

Zhao Yunlan, head of the Special Investigation Unit, could scarcely believe that the man he was in love with became a victim of such a case and even worse, a prime witness. However, when he woke up from his two days coma, his professor lost his short-term memory, forgetting the incident, but not the murderer, who waited patiently to finish what he started.

They’re the night customers, the night-dwellers, and Zhao Yunlan pays no mind to their oddities, just follows their direction when they ask for him leave their burgers raw, or not put salt in because it 'burns'; accepts the odd things that they give him along with their tips – like old coins from an age past that give him unprecedented good luck for a week, or sheaves of dry leaves that turn into winning lottery tickets overnight – and when they ask for him to give his name, with too many teeth in their perfect mouths, he winks and changes the subject.

There’s clinking in the kitchen, but nothing smells like dinner.

Zhao Yunlan finally opens his eyes, but there is no Shen Wei in bed with him, and really, why should there be?

He heaves out a heavy sigh and then startles badly when there’s a noise from the kitchen. He shoots up into a sitting position and cranes his neck around, only to relax immediately when he sees the familiar back of Shen Wei at his kitchen counter.

Shen Wei inhales slowly so he doesn't shake someone for information. "Explain to me what is happening."

"The blood curse," Chu Shuzhi says. "Zhao Chuzhang was attacked by a carrier."

"Why doesn't anyone just call it what it is?" Da Qing asks. "Vampires. We're talking about vampires."

Zhao Yunlan doesn't like being gagged. Young Shen Wei is intrigued.

“Shen Wei,” Zhao Yunlan whines, but Shen Wei gently steers him towards the bathroom.

“You’ll feel better afterwards,” Shen Wei promises and Zhao Yunlan groans.

“If you want me to shower so much, you can do it.”

Shen Wei freezes. This is not what he expected.
