The brothers haven't seen food in days.

Allied Dixing turned a blind eye to any and all indiscretions committed by the foreign General Kunlun. The Black Robed Envoy owed Kunlun his life, so the Dixing forces would never speak against him. The Envoy defended his people with every power he had, and they followed without question.

They followed both the Black Robed Envoys, not that everyone believed there were two of them.

Zhao Yunlan realizes that Shen Wei is the Black-Cloaked Envoy. This leaves him with only one option: seduction.

Zhao Yunlan has a birthday.

"You know, I thought about you a lot," Zhao Yunlan said. "Back when I first met you."

Shen Wei is afraid.

He is used to that feeling; he still remembers being petrified on the battlefield, but he has never before been afraid of things that didn’t concern fighting. It’s there now, though and Shen Wei doesn’t know how he’ll ever manage this fear.

There's a reason for the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on Shen Wei's door, written in his elegant calligraphy and which all of his university students unflinchingly obey. And its existence is completely Zhao Yunlan's fault because he's the reason for the desk incident.

This is how I make sense of Shen Wei telling Zhao Yunlan, "I looked for you for 10,000 years."

Along with everything else Shen Wei is, he’s a scientist, and he’s been accumulating Dixing talents for decades. At least some of them have practical applications beyond fighting bad guys, but as far as Zhao Yunlan knows, he’s had precious few occasions to try them out.

Zhao Yunlan is more than happy to be his guinea pig. Really, it’s the least he can do.
