An investigation in Dixing leads Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan deep into the cave tunnels. Stranded in the dark, the secret Shen Wei's been hiding only makes things worse.

Thousands of years ago, a collaborative team from Haixing and Dixing created mindships from Dixing technology and Haixing magic. Zhao Yunlan is a new graduate of the Haixing Air and Space Program and he’s not expecting to get picked to be a third, but he does. By Shen Wei and Ye Zun, the pair of Dixingren who had become the first mindship.

Lin Jing lures Shen Wei into coming to Worldcon. Alas, there's too much good programming going on to go to it all – unless one invents time travel.

The Crown Prince, Zhao Yunlan, has been fighting at the front lines of the war against Dixing for years when his mother gifts him with a concubine. Shen Wei is beautiful and magnetic and Zhao Yunlan falls in love with him instantly. But Shen Wei isn’t just a concubine; he’s a Dixing spy who’s being embedded in Zhao Yunlan’s household to gather intel and potentially assassinate the prince. He doesn’t expect to fall in love.
