When Shen Wei finally gets a phone, Zhao Yunlan seizes the opportunity with both hands.

Shen Wei can only wonder how many bear pictures there can possibly be to be found on the internet.

Shen Wei isn’t sure if he considers himself born. If he thinks hard enough, he can bring up hazy, black and white images of a humanoid figure hunched over him; a soft, warm voice sings in a language he has long forgotten, and a gentle hand combs through his hair.
In his darkest days, when he reaches for these images most, he’s not sure if these are a memory or the desperate attempts of a mind seeking comfort.
In any case, language is complex and difficult to get precise, and so born is probably still the best word for how Shen Wei came into being. He was born.
His brother, Ye Zun, was born first.

Zhao Yunlan is a horny bastard. Shen Wei is either cursed or blessed, I'm not sure which.

The half-formed words slip out loud and sharp within the confines of the warehouse and Zhao Yunlan freezes in place, eyes widening to an almost comical degree.

He probably should have brought back-up with him. Scratch that, he should definitely have. Shen Wei is going to be very mad at him, so mad, but that’s a thought for later. Right now, Zhao Yunlan needs to survive the hellish sight that’s before him.

What would you recommend to encourage affection? Well, I certainly wouldn't think of a cat breaking my favorite teacup.

Smoke is everywhere.

It blurs the harsh shapes of the cars that now sit still in the two-lane street.

“Dumbass,” mutters Chu-ge, and Changcheng’s self-consciousness and curiosity combine and escalate to unbearable levels. Is Chu-ge calling him a dumbass in a bad way? Is he mad? It’s so hard to tell with the mask obscuring half his face.

Watching the usually stoic professor like this was always a treat.

And in that moment, Shen Wei collapsed on Yun Lan. Air left his lungs and Yun Lan coughed at the sudden weight on him.

He turned Shen Wei over, checking for vital signs. His heart froze when he took his finger close to Shen Wei’s nose. He wasn’t breathing.

An extended scene for Chapter 6 of Sleeping, Dreaming, Waking.

"No clothes," Zhao Yunlan manages. "Do the thing. Baby, please—" He doesn't get any further before there is a flare of dark indigo and they are both naked.

In all of Shen Wei's thousands of years awake he's had time on his hands.

Time that he didn't spend idle. Time where he threw himself (desperately so) into learning everything he could about the world above. Sometimes successfully so, other times not, much to JiaJia’s detriment.

While technology is something he will never fully appreciate the sciences in all their varied forms he does.
