Just a little place to put my danmei thoughts. Every chapter title is a different topic, commentary, review, or tribute. After each puzzling death, the Black-Cloaked Envoy appears, a tall lithesome form who bends to touch dead skin, to feel the resonance of his people there. These deaths are caused by Dixingren somehow, he affirms. Zhao Yunlan watches him, as he always does. The long, fine-boned stretch of his hands. The flash of his uncovered throat inside the gloaming of his hood, like a birch tree in the dark. The Black-Cloaked Envoy’s eyes fall to his, sometimes, when they talk. Zhao Yunlan can feel the weight of his gaze.

OR: Zhao Yunlan is the last victim of SID's latest case: a Dixingren whose power is to amplify the heart's desire a hundred-fold.

His dreams were an invaluable source of information, though Ye Zun found himself learning useless things, too.
For example, Zhao Yunlan used lollipops as a replacement for smoking tobacco. In his dream, he'd smoke freely, smiling after the first drag. He'd say how he missed it while offering the same tobacco stick - a cigarette, that's how Zhao Yunlan called it - to Ye Zun.
But he wasn't Ye Zun, in that dream, was he?
He had Shen Wei's face, Shen Wei's body, Shen Wei's voice, Shen Wei's everything.

When Shen Wei is assigned to conduct an external financial audit on the unorthodox Special Investigations Department, he finds himself butting heads with the stubborn, yet devastatingly charming Chief Zhao Yunlan. Zhao Yunlan couldn’t help but flirt with Shen Wei 10,000 years ago. He hadn’t meant to, but he couldn’t control who he was nor resist the younger, more delicate version of the man he was already head over heels for. He realized too late it being his own doing making Shen Wei fall in love with Kunlun and himself in the future. He wouldn’t think twice of giving Shen Wei the whole world, anything to make him happy, but he knows how this part of the story ends so what he wants to give most must be withheld. Only for a time though.

This fic picks up after episode 25, where Wei and Yunlan are returning from solving the multiple personality case. It explores the deepening of their relationship. The story explores into their evolving bond, with a lollipop in tow XD

Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan face the difficulties of modern life. Engaged, marriage to come. Because of Shen Wei's illness they moved to another country, trying to live a happy life together finally.
Some past threats might reappear, some misunderstandings as well.
Continuation of the video-fiction "After All These Years" (season 2) and "Where You Are" (season3), which follow the happenings of season 1, modern life, both of them reincarnated with the same memories of what happened to them in the past.

Zhao Yunlan kept something for Shen Wei, after they survived.

"What is Shen Wei's current location?" At the Marshal's question, Zhu Hong took a moment longer to look at him.
"Does he even leave the basement lab?”
"Inform him that I'm coming down. I want Wang Zheng here in the command room. Lin Jing, you will monitor the reactivation." Zhao Yunlan finished the last few words as the door to the room closed behind him.
“Reactivation,” Lin Jing quickly moved to another chair, to execute the commands on the system that Zhao Yunlan had been looking at before leaving. "As if that thing was ever actually activated... Hong-jie, tell me the Marshal isn't about to do something suicidal..."
Zhu Hong sighed heavily. She always knew that there would never be time for a proper goodbye and the words she had never said.

“The beach?” Shen Wei had hazarded, looking a little uncertain, and Zhao Yunlan had crowed in victory and booked a room in the outskirts of Kraken City immediately so that Shen Wei couldn’t back out.

A weary Zhao Yunlan returns home to find Shen Wei waiting for him.

She still couldn’t think of the Yashou election—or outranking Fourth Uncle and the others—without wanting to squirm out of her skin. But she was high chief. She’d accepted the position. She had to do something about the encroachments, and objectively, Ya Qing was the best choice to help—even if she was also the least comfortable. Even if Zhu Hong couldn’t entirely trust her.

For days, Zhao Yunlan would return to where that specific landscape was and spend some time observing it. Shen Wei wondered what was wrong with that painting, but did not voice his questions. Eventually, his husband would say something about it. It wasn't as if Zhao Yunlan knew how to remain silent for long.
But as he paused once more in front of the painting, there was a certain nostalgia tinged with resignation in his gaze. "The last time we passed this waterfall, I already knew that I would not see my little beauty become a great beauty..."
