He had seen the rise of people, watched buildings grow higher and higher until they scraped the very heavens like pillars of the Earth.

And now, he had seen the soul of Kunlun— the mountain god, his love, his mentor, worth the world and all his lonely years— shine from the eyes of a cat.

Guo is not allowed to babysit anymore. At least, not without Chu along to keep things “normal”.

Yunlan wondered when the last time was that he felt so at peace.

Yunlan’s smile falls. “Xiao Wei…” he murmurs. “What if-”

Shen Wei covers Yunlan’s mouth with his hand to stop him from finishing his sentence. “No matter how long,” he repeats. He moves his hand, cups Yunlan’s face. “If the war takes a year, I will wait a year. If it takes ten, I will wait ten.”

“And if the war takes me?” Yunlan asks quietly. “What then, my love?”

Zhao Yunlan is not the master Shen Wei expected.

Chief Zhao is a little too friendly with the Black-Cloaked Envoy. The members of the SID worry that he's being emotionally disloyal to Professor Shen.
