Ye Zun hasn't seen gege in years.

From the very first time Xiao Guo touches him, Chu Shuzhi sees the red strings stretching between them. They are fine, tiny filaments, invisible and intangible to anyone else, but Chu Shuzhi knows they're there, like cobwebs. It's terrifying. He shoves Xiao Guo away, snapping the threads.

It's the summer festival and Moon Pillar Ye Zun is out on a hunt for his missing teammates.

Zhao Yunlan gasped as his eyes widened. His heart hammered. Shen Wei...the memory surfaced. Oh his team coming back without Shen Wei. His bloodied body. Anguish filled his being as his loss surfaced in his awakening consciousness. He was gone. He was never going to see him again...and he didn't even get time to confess his feelings. With tears in his eyes, Yunlan took in the swimming vision in front of him. Only to notice a sea of crowding around him.

His mind was sluggish but he recognised one pale face in the sea of crowd above him. His heart froze as he took in that sight. The rest faded as he zoned in on that one face which wasn't bloodied and very alive. With strength he didn't know he had possessed, he immediately ran up and clasped him in a tight embrace.

By a stroke of luck, after suffering Shen Wei's death and his own demise Zhao Yunlan finds himself waking up in the past on the first day he met the professor. With memories of the future fresh, Zhao Yunlan vows to change their destiny. He had lost Shen Wei once. He wouldn't be losing him again.

Can Yunlan change the future he came from? Would he be able to change their ending? And who sent Yunlan back in time? Only time will tell.

Chu Shuzhi muses about his co-workers at a celebratory meal.

“Zhao Yunlan,” Shen Wei breathed, and it was Shen Wei, Zhao Yunlan’s Shen Wei, even if he looked like his younger self. There were tears in his eyes. “Please,” he said, “promise me.”

“Anything,” gasped Zhao Yunlan. His chest hurt. He struggled to rise, but he couldn’t move.

“Care for him. Protect him,” whispered Shen Wei. The tears spilled over. “Please.”

Something heavy collapsed on top of Zhao Yunlan. He gasped and looked into Ye Zun’s wide, shocked eyes.

Their world changed not when Ye Zun came into their lives but when Shen Wei vanished. Zhao Yunlan got lonely, Ye Zun got desperate and Da Qing—Da Qing watched.

Zhao Yunlan has rescued Shen Wei from the chains of the Heavenly Pillar, but Shen Wei is badly wounded, and getting back to Haixing is not as simple as they'd like.

Sometimes love is saving each others' lives or dramatic displays of self-sacrifice. Other times, it's a plastic bag filled with takeaway at the end of a long day.

Zhao Yunlan is currently having the worst crisis of his life.

When Shen Wei asks if he can kiss Zhao Yunlan, who is Zhao Yunlan to deny him anything.

“I’m okay, Changcheng. I’m okay, I promise.”

When Ye Zun is finally released from his imprisonment in Dixing, he decides to make a new life in Haixing. It's away from the baggage of home that Ye Zun can heal his relationship with Shen Wei. Told entirely through third-person avenues such as emails, social media and documents.

A modern Kunlun and xiao-Wei enjoy each other's company in the kitchen of their home, gazing at each other with the utmost love and affection. In this life, they share everything, including a pajama set and wedding rings!
