In other words, Zhao YunLan is tasked with meeting his new, scary in-laws, who apparently came back from the dead.)

But this is an important matter.

“I want to do it with you like this,” Zhao Yunlan murmurs to him.

Zhao Yunlan was a well-known Guardian of the human realm who hunted down even the most dangerous ghost that plagued the broken world, but a "casual" encounter with a mysterious professor at Dragon City University changed more than the chaos in which humanity found itself for hundred of years, he also changed his own destiny.

This is an alternative universe story, more related to the novel than the drama, but I hope someone comes to like it. Sorry for the bad English, it's not my main language, my bad. I don't own Guardian, the novel, so proper credit to the amazing work done by Priest.

It wasn’t love at first sight; of course it wasn’t.

At the start of a new semester Professor Shen Wei, darling of Dragon City University, disappears without a trace. Ten years later Zhao Yunlan, new detective for the Dragon City violent crimes unit, receives a strange letter that begins to unravel a mystery that started ten years ago and must finish with him.

Zhao Yunlan jerks back to the waking world gasping and screaming and drowning in the anguish that comes with being lit on eternal consuming fire. The unmistakable rich copper taste of blood fills his mouth and he opens tear-filled bloodshot eyes that he was sure melted a long time ago with the rest of his physical body. He sees faces crowding around him in varying degrees of worry, but the pain blinds him from putting names to the faces. His throat feels raw, as if he'd been screaming for centuries and realizes on the next breath that he's been screaming a name. Shen Wei's name.

The Black-Cloaked Envoy and Zhao Yunlan engage in some sex after capturing a criminal has the Envoy mildly impaled in an unsexy manner.
