“Xiao Guo,” Wang Zheng says, voice breaking in what’s almost a sob. There’s a long moment of silence, and Sang Zan gently rubs Wang Zheng’s arm soothingly.

“We need to do something,” Da Qing says, finally. Lin Jing nods, decisive, standing up and putting on his best impression of Chief Zhao.

“Esteemed members of the Special Investigations Department, one of our own is in danger. Our mission: to protect our Guo Changcheng’s virtue — and his heart — from being corrupted by that traitor, Chu Shuzhi.”

The one where Shen Wei is a dragon.

Han Chen has always felt deep in his bones as if there was someone he had forgotten. Someone he had left behind. Deep in the archives of the SID, he finds a clue in an old case from 30 years ago.

Shen Wei almost runs with the excuse.

He wants to lean into Yunlan’s touch, to let Yunlan continue to make a mess of Si’er’s room searching for the pink dress he thinks they left at Yunlan’s apartment. He wants to keep Yunlan here, in their lives, with them, wants Yunlan to be a part of their lives so badly.

The sundial sits, deceptively heavy in the palm of his hand. He expects it to burn against his skin, but the metal is cool, surface smooth and polished. Shuzhi looks over at Changcheng on the lab table, and knows that there isn’t a decision to be made, knows in his heart that he never had a choice to begin with.

Shen Wei knows he's being ridiculous, but it doesn't stop him from collecting his treasures.

Zhao Yunlan returns home early. Set around the three month mark of their relationship.
