“I got this! I’ll drink it.” So, said the Chief of the SID to Hei Pao Shi and quickly, Zhao Yunlan grabbed the little bottle of mysterious liquid that sat so innocently upon a simple pedestal and clutched it protectively to his chest.

There was no way he was going to let Hei Pao Shi drink whatever the hell was in this bottle, not when they didn’t know what exactly waited for them outside the room.

Zhao Yunlan was a junior officer, when he got a Dixingren-related case for the first time. No, he didn’t have any plan on joining SID like his father yet, but it’s probably a given for him to be able to solve one, remembering many Dixing related things haunted his childhood.

Shen Wei searched and searched until his wings were tired and he had no other choice but to stop for a short rest. He followed every lead, listened to every rumour.

In search of his captured brother, Shen Wei gets injured by the dragon hunters. He crashes in Kunlun's mountain range, where Kunlun finds him and saves him.

Zhao Yunlan's teenage rebellious phase involved lots of hair dye. Unfortunately, soulmates share hair color.

Shen Wei can see it in his mind’s eye: the warmth of the lights in this apartment, the way Zhao Yunlan would lean into his space and Shen Wei would hold himself still and wait, breathless, for that kiss. He wants that version of tonight, wishes that he could turn back time and make the choices that would’ve brought them there instead of here.

“No.” Lao Chu says and glares at them for good measure. ”I am literally the only person who is not responsible for this debacle and I am not getting involved.” He adds and crosses his arms. The problem is – he has a point. He was doing field work connected to a different case when everything went horribly wrong.

In a fairytale world, Zhao Yunlan goes to rescue a captive in a tower. Though things don't go exactly as planned, he's far from complaining.

But one should never trust appearances in a fairytale.

After their tryst in the temple, Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan embark on their budding relationship. This might involve more spontaneity than Shen Wei thought himself capable of, but if nothing else he's always been a fast learner.
