Shen Wei felt heavier when he was unconscious. The idea was ridiculous, of course. Or maybe it wasn’t. If anyone could find a way to make himself less of a burden, it would be Shen Wei.

Zhao Yunlan slapped on the light just in time to see the portal collapse in on itself, leaving Shen Wei in a heap on the floor. His clothes were scorched, some patches still smouldering, but he wasn’t doing anything to stop them burning.

Zhao Yunlan rolled Shen Wei's sleeves higher to check on his wound.

So far he'd had to watch Shen Wei throw himself down buildings, hurt and poison himself on purpose, and even going so far as to let himself be mugged and almost-assaulted when he literally could have handwaved or stabbed away all of those incidents with one gesture. Or maybe two, if he had a bad day.
