He knows that he is no exception and that sooner or later he’ll be all alone again. The rational part of his brain told him to leave Zhao Yunlan while he still can since there is no chance he’ll ever achieve the happy ending he’s been yearning for centuries.

Despite knowing this, he can’t help but hope; hope that the years that he has spent devoting his life to Zhao Yunlan would make him finally worthy.
