Exactly how they survive is a secret Shen Wei finds himself incapable of sharing in the confusion that follows their return, as Dragon City tries to get a handle on a number of passages that have opened up between the worlds, and Ye Zun's supporters turn to violence to prevent a return to the status quo. Escalating crises barely leave time for Shen Wei to process the changes that the events in Dixing mean for his and Zhao Yunlan's relationship. As it turns out, though, open communication is an integral part of collaborating effectively to save two worlds, so they have some catching up to do.
