Due to a death in her family, one of Shen Wei's colleagues has to leave town for the weekend. Unable to bring her baby with her, she turns to her only hope—Shen Wei—to take her little girl off her hands for a few days. While Shen Wei is reluctant, Zhao Yunlan readily accepts, and soon, the two end up with a lot more than what they bargained for.

As they find themselves together with a child in their care, feelings emerge.

"Ah Lan..." Shen Wei croaked out, curling his lips into a smile and held up the bunch of flowers in front of his lover's face.

Yunlan's jaw went slack. His boyfriend had gotten hurt, precisely stabbed, was bleeding profusely not even having the energy to stand up, but had the audacity to give him flowers. He swatted the Ghost Slayer's hand away, pulling him more unto himself. His eyes wandered over from the heart-warming smile to the wound, which made his heart clench, reminded him of all those things he didn't want to think of.

It hurts Zhao Yunlan to tell her: "Your baba doesn't want me to kiss him." It's an awful truth he's come to accept, but it's a heartbreak he'll gladly live with if it guarantees Shen Wei's happiness.

Shen Wei has had enough of always doing the household chores on his own, so he starts leaving memos all over his and Zhao Yunlan's home as gentle reminders, but his mischievous husband has other plans in mind (novelverse, post-canon weilan).

Shen Wei was the Ghost Slayer, but it didn't mean that he didn't have bad days or the need to be held. Good for him, his boyfriend loves him more than enough to do that for him.

Zhao Yunlan makes it his mission not to let Shen Wei leave the house. Shen Wei has a nine o'clock class to make, but decides to indulge his husband a bit.

In which Zhao Yunlan is a stubborn man-child, and Shen Wei is very much in love.

“Zhao Yunlan,” he says, looking at him with such intensity that Zhao Yunlan wants to flinch away. “When was the last time you slept?”

“Aiya, Shen Wei, you don’t need to worry about that,” Zhao Yunlan waves a hand, trying for something easy, something casually unconcerned, never mind that he’d been trying to figure that out himself. “I’ve pulled plenty of all-nighters in my day, I definitely managed to grab a nap—” he pauses awkwardly, trying to remember – “somewhere in there, anyways.”
