Zhao Yunlan’s gaze cycled through the monitors again – parlor, office, hallway, back room, warehouse floor, basement. Nothing much had changed. A couple of goons were playing go in the back room. The parlor and hallway were empty. A guy was going over paperwork in the office.

Shen Wei and the other trafficking victims were still in the basement.

Zhao Yunlan has let his hair grow out in a mullet—yes, that rascal!—and smokes a cigarette next to Shen Wei, who's let his hair grow long and loose. Coy smiles play across their lips, each as fixated as the other on their lovely hair.

Shen Wei and his younger brother grow up in permalight Dixing. Disaster strikes in the form of Shen Wei being chosen to assume the mantle of Black Cloaked Envoy and be in service to the Immortal Kunlun in Haixing for the rest of his life. At his younger brother's urging, he goes into hiding because being gone isn't the problem: it's the inability to come back.

The painful irony is that the only place Shen Wei won't be found is the place he'd been trying to avoid: Haixing.

Royal duties run deep but where does it end with love?

Since the death of his mother, Zhao Yunlan is convinced that such thing as genuine happiness would remain as child's fairy tale. His conviction even grew firmer with his father forcing marriage down his throat in guise of royal duty as his lone heir. However, fate may have different plans for a broken soul, heaven's mercy dressed in red named Shen Wei. Is it truly possible to find happiness amidst turmoil or is a tragedy bound from the beginning?
