From the very first time Xiao Guo touches him, Chu Shuzhi sees the red strings stretching between them. They are fine, tiny filaments, invisible and intangible to anyone else, but Chu Shuzhi knows they're there, like cobwebs. It's terrifying. He shoves Xiao Guo away, snapping the threads.

Something heavy collapsed on top of Zhao Yunlan. He gasped and looked into Ye Zun’s wide, shocked eyes.

Zhao Yunlan has rescued Shen Wei from the chains of the Heavenly Pillar, but Shen Wei is badly wounded, and getting back to Haixing is not as simple as they'd like.
