"Maybe I'm just thinking about you and want to voice my appreciation," Zhao Yunlan replies, turning his head to press a kiss to Shen Wei's thumb. "Is that so strange?"

Shen Wei strokes his thumb across the hair of Zhao Yunlan's beard, feels the stubble catch on the pad of his finger. "No, I suppose not," he murmurs. His thumb runs across Zhao Yunlan's bottom lip, and the man grins. "It's only fair that I show my appreciation in return."

Shen Wei strives to make Zhao Yunlan come as many times as possible in one night.

Staring at the face in front of him makes his heart pound rapidly. He missed this. Hugging and cuddling with each other like when Zhao Yunlan was still Kunlun and Shen Wei was that young General. But Zhao Yunlan is not Kunlun, not yet and Shen Wei will never back to be the same naive General like he was before. 

He wants to stay here, being near Zhao Yunlan. Forever, his whole life. Shen Wei can't, he knows that. He needs to leave. Being here even a second more would falter his decision and he truly needs to get out of here before Zhao Yunlan wakes up. 

“Take them off," Shen Wei said. "Now.”

“What? My jeans? The last time I did that at the office, you said—”

“Not your jeans,” Shen Wei said, even though it was a tempting offer. He would not let Zhao Yunlan distract him from his mission. “Those… things… on your feet.”

If you’d told Zhao Yunlan two years ago he’d willingly go on a hike for the sake of a partner, he’d have scoffed. Exercising, fine — his lean physique isn’t all thanks to metabolism — but enjoying nature, with not a bar or noodle stand to be seen for miles and spotty cellphone service? Not historically his idea of a good time.
And yet as he sets off down the trail with Shen Wei at his side, he knows there’s nowhere he’d rather be right now.
