Shen Wei has been away on official Dixing duty for three days. Zhao Yunlan is absolutely not worried.

Zhao Yunlan was attacked. Shen Wei does not deal with this well.

What was he, Guo Changcheng, compared to this Dixing warrior? And yet Chu Shuzhi found him worthy of love.

“How many colors are you seeing right now?”

“All of them?” Shen Wei answered, confused. Then he looked away, looked toward Zhao Yunlan, and smiled beatifically. His glasses were skewed slightly. Zhao Yunlan set them right with the tip of one forefinger and that only made Shen Wei smile more. His hair even seemed to have relaxed, falling into his eyes in ways that made Zhao Yunlan want to muss him further. “I think it’s all of them.”

It would make this all so much easier if Shen Wei couldn’t see the cracks through which his brother shines. But at Shen Wei’s words, he seems almost to crumple inward, lose the false confidence which had him swaggering toward Shen Wei before like he hadn’t a care in the world beyond hurting Shen Wei as much as possible.
