Qi Heng remains still as he watches the stars go by from the view-screen of the bridge. The station grows ever nearer, a massive structure suspended among the stars like a giant metal flower. His first assignment, his first time leaving Earth (and the lunar colonies didn’t count) – and now he’s out here, in frontier space, his first diplomatic assignment ahead of him.

“He looks as if his soul left his body a long time ago,” Jing Ran pointed out, taking a sip from his glass, his eyes trained on Chen Yiming standing on the pier with Hou Hao in his arms, both of them watching the sea.
“So like every career man then, I thought you would approve,” Bai Qi replied in a perfectly neutral tone.
Jing Ran turned to the right slowly, levelling his ex-husband with a disappointed look.

“What happened to us that I am only ever ‘your grace’ to you?” Qi Heng asked quietly, and Xun Xu knew he should reply with some polite platitude and leave. He’s been here before, he had left because Qi Heng couldn’t and shouldn’t be anything more to him than an ambassador of the Republic, but… But. There was something raw and tender in his voice, something Xun Xu couldn’t just ignore.

The orchid is the gentleman of all flowers. Upright, delicate, tasteful and fragrant, an orchid signifies respect and admiration. Unfortunately, when one is choking on orchids as they bloom stealthily up one's throat, admiration is the last thing on one's mind.

Luo Fei fortifies himself against a meeting that will likely test not only the very limits of his patience, but send him into a downward spiral of competitive teasing to outright fighting. If one could call a man like Luo Qingeng one's friend, with as different paths in life as they do, then Luo Qingeng would, perhaps be a friend.

"It is a shame, though," Luo Qingeng says, "That I haven't seen you so often, recently."

"I would think you'd consider it a relief," Luo Fei says, muffling coughs in his increasingly crumpled handkerchief.

“I told you I was coming I just need…oh.” Jing Ran had a feeling the flowers would be a good idea – despite his practicality, Jiang Yang liked pretty things: he always smiled when he received them. “They are wonderful, thank you! You know you didn’t have to.”
The genuine happiness in Jian Yang’s voice washed over Jing Ran like a balm. After the whole day at work and then at the market, he was finally home.

The moon peeked out from behind a bank of clouds just as he heard someone coming up the trail. It was Kunlun, but not the sure-footed, smiling man of their first meeting three days ago.

“I haven’t seen the outside for this long before…”

“Damn,” Mo Sanmei says. “So… That’s it? You just… Stay down there and…” he waves his hand vaguely.

Hou Hao keeps swinging his legs, expression mild as he turns his head. "…I've been programmed for entertainment, San-ge. I can sing, dance, play instruments, talk about literature, have sex, paint pictures-"

"Fuck- Okay, stop – I never asked for a catalogue entry, shit!" Mo Sanmei rubs the back of his head, sighing loudly. "…So you do lots of stuff."

“Yeah, I’m a pretty advanced design,” Hou Hao agrees with a smile.

Something about that makes Mo Sanmei uneasy. Fuck it. “Alright, kid,” he says, throwing down his cigarette into a puddle, to hear a satisfying ‘hiss.’ “We’re going on a trip. Stay right here.”

My entry for the Lord King Bad vidders' challenge on DC Slash. By Lord King Bad in this context I mean a vid that is deliberately grandiose/overwrought. It's a mini-vid, about 30 seconds long.

It began as a mondegreen - only half listening to the song on my K-Pop station, I thought most of the lines ended with "tied up." None of them actually do.

Nonetheless, the vid idea was born and I stuck with it, because poor Shen Wei gets tied up a LOT. Often with chains. Which causes Zhao Yunlan angst.

Of course, Zhao Yunlan gets tied up too, as well as trapped in a duel between competing energies. Cue the Shen Wei angst.

The next day, on a Saturday, Hong Yizhou leaves Yunjiang and travels back home for the first time in years, with only a bag pack and his wallet.
He leaves a message on the fridge, a short note that he will pick up the phone if Xiaojin calls, and sends an email to engineer Ding – she’s been trying to make him take a leave for months so he doesn’t expect her to protest.

"You like it?" Yunlan grins, taking the lollipop out of his mouth to do a little twirl. "You have to like it, I'm not getting changed."

Luo Fei gives him a look. “I have a proposition for you.”

“No thanks, Luo-shu-shu, I prefer pretty girls.” Luo Fusheng faces Luo Fei with his hands in his pockets and his head tilted back challengingly.

Luo Fusheng watches Luo Fei’s knuckles turn white on the top of his cane, as though he’s thinking very hard about beating Luo Fusheng to death with it. “…I have a lead on a very old, very cold case,” he says, voice strained, “One that we both have some personal connection to.” His hand goes to his watch chain, then drops back down to his side.

The Reasoning Group liked to check phones and computers - hiding the electronics would certainly set them on a goose chase, making them confused enough to start turning against each other. The Reflection would love to witness that. Though there was plenty of interesting characters in the Apartment 11, the Reasoning Team was the brightest – their reactions the most dramatic, their ideas the most outrageous.

He reached out of his mirror and was in the middle of swinging his other leg through the frame, when there was a creak of the door opening, and he was faced with a tall man, munching on peanuts.

"Well, this is awkward," the man said, seemingly unbothered by the fact that there was someone leaving the mirror right in front of him. Bai Sanwan, the Reflection’s mind supplied: the one who was either brilliant or the worst tease on the team.

What was he doing here?
