When a supernatural crime happens in Dragon City, unwritten rules are to be respected. A murder investigation on a vampire coven's turf, for instance, should be reported to said coven's patriarch.

When Zhao Yunlan follows exactly that rule, patriarch Shen Wei decides to join the hunt for the responsible monster. Is it merely out of a sense of duty as he claims, or does he have other reasons?

In the course of an entirely normal murder investigation Zhao Yunlan ends up watching a video that tells him he's going to die in three days time.

"You know, from the first time I met you, I had this feeling - a sense that there was something more to us, something I was missing." Zhao Yunlan grinned. "I had no idea how much more."
