While Ye Zun’s plan nearly succeeded, Hei Pao Shi, Zhao Yunlan, the SID, and the Yashou, proved their tenacity and quelled the rebellion.

That didn’t mean things were okay, not yet at least, but now with everyone alive, including Ye Zun, the team could focus on rebuilding Dixing and the relationship between the two cities. Hei Pao Shi split his attention between helping with rebuilding and rehabilitating (or trying to) his brother.

Neither task would be easy, but it was needed.

These efforts required both Shen Wei and Chu Shuzhi to be down in Dixing, and while neither wanted to leave Haixing for any length of time, their duty took priority.

Zhao Yunlan laughs, making the energy cloud dance in his palm. He's leaning against the headboard, the comforter revealing just a sliver of underwear in a way that seems entirely premeditated. "You probably aren't supposed to get too close to your, you know, objects of study." He winks at Shen Wei. "But we've become such good friends in the last-- well, however long you've kept me waiting."

"It's been twenty minutes and I'm really terribly sorry," Shen Wei says.

“Look team, we don’t need to answer this one: we have a pretty good lead, we garnered a lot of head-start that will probably last us through the next round, so we can take a breather. We don’t have to get it right,” he said, trying to sound like a calm, self-confident leader and not like a guy who would rather die again than give that rat Cong Bo the satisfaction of beating him.

Shen Wei disappears on a Wednesday.

Ye Zun still cries out when he’s breached. He hates this. Why can’t he be strong like Shen Wei? If they were both strong, if he had any abilities they could survive on their own. Instead he’s here, on his back, nothing but a set of holes for these rebels to fuck.

Ye Zun closes his eyes and imagines it’s Shen Wei. The illusion never lasts, because Shen Wei would be gentle and sweet to him, telling him what a good boy he is for taking his dick so well, hands firm but never hurting him. It all vanishes when Ye Zun opens his eyes, blinking back tears.

Shen Wei was so preoccupied with collecting all the pieces of Zhao Yunlan he was allowed that he almost did not notice what they added up to.

getting injured while involving himself in an SID case is a minor inconvenience, as far as Shen Wei is concerned. Being unable to heal himself without revealing his best-kept secret is slightly more of a hassle, but he's had much worse.
