Shen Wei turns around and smiles at him. It suddenly occurs to Zhao Yun Lan that if he knew they would die like this, he wouldn't have been as careful in love. Maybe then he could slip into the old comfort of a familiar hug. Instead it feels more natural to look into Shen Wei's eyes.

Zhao Yun Lan makes a necklace for the love of his life.

The team goes out to dinner, get drunk and then decide mum and dad deserves more.

Shen Wei hums. “Someone’s got to stay to look after you,” he tells Yunlan.

“Good,” Yunlan says, satisfied. “C’mere. I’m going to take a nap. I need you to come nap with me.”

Shen Wei is quiet for a beat, and Yunlan can just imagine the look on his face right now.

“I’m blind now,” Yunlan reminds him, schooling his features into his best ‘my life is already so tragic, please don’t say no to me’ look. “What if I roll off the bed and can’t get back up?”

In which Zhao Yunlan is a Catholic priest and full-time exorcist, and Shen Wei is the visiting professor he can't quite leave alone.

Every day together was a blessing.

Perhaps this was not the end that they all wanted, or what they deserved. But it was given to them by faith, and they would make the most of it.

“No, fuck this whole sacrificing yourself for the greater good bullshit. Do you know how upset the Chief is going to be if he ever finds out we had this conversation? We’ll deal with Ye Zun when we’re all out there.”

Lin Jing just wanted to file his expense form and buy the new VR headset. Instead he decided to get even. Like most things in his life, it backfires.

' I'm not worthy of all you've done for me.' Yun Lan murmured, looking at Shen Wei with worry in his eyes.

' You are.' Shen Wei spoke, a second later without a single hint of regret in his voice. He was determined, and that angered Yun Lan. As he knew the other didn't care about his own health anymore. Which would cause harm to the both of them in the end.

Yun Lan snapped.

' You are not immortal! Why would i owe you like this? Do you want me to owe you my life? To kneel down in front of you?' He yelled, veins protruding in his forehead and cheeks turning red with anger.

He did not know what he saw flash across Shen Wei's face right then, but it was a perfect mix between hurt and sadness. Taking a hurried step forward, hands shaking and eyes turning redder with each blink. His eyes shifted from Yun Lan's eyes, to his lips.

' I am giving you... this life back.' He whispered, close to tears.
