“Do you think there’s an after?” Zhao Yunlan once asked, his head in Shen Wei’s lap, them both on the couch in the apartment that by that point was not just Zhao Yunlan’s, but theirs. Shen Wei tore his gaze away from the kitchen lamp he was resting his eyes on and looked down at Zhao Yunlan. His chest suddenly felt horrifyingly empty, the void threatening to consume him whole, but he swallowed and lied,

“I do.”

Shen Wei almost physically felt his reality shift at the thought. They had little time left.

Wu Xie pinches his arm harshly, letting out a hiss of pain. Kunlun wants to immediately reach forward to stop him but doesn't want to startle the man. "Hallucinating then? Sleep deprivation can cause those, right?"
Kunlun's eyebrows scrunch closer. "Why would I be? Do you not want me here?" He isn't able to bury all the hurt from his voice. Had he already disappointed this new follower?
"What? No no no. You're great here." Wu Xie reaches out and rests a hand on Kunlun's forearm. The eagerness to reassure Kunlun eases the worry that had been rising up within the god.

Back when Zhao Yunlan was still in college, Shen Wei starts teaching a qigong/neigong/tai chi (he has a class on each and then exercises from each) activity at school, after a fellow professor saw him doing an exercise one day and suggested it and then there was interest from his students and then he's suddenly in charge of multiple classes of it.

And then Zhao Yunlan tries to sign up.

“What?”
