Shen Wei sighs. The dragon in him is quite impatient, isn't it? Shen Wei touches his reflection. Zhao Yunlan had seen this. What did Zhao Yunlan feel looking at this form of his? Shen Wei wonders. He closes his eyes, drawing in a deep breath. He feels vaguely exposed, no one outside of his family has ever seen this form. And he lost his family long ago, it feels weird being seen now. But Zhao Yunlan is his family, his husband, his everything. It is alright, Shen Wei thinks. He will always feel alright with Zhao Yunlan.

Everyone heads out to enjoy the fallen snow.

Somehow, they’ve gone from Zhao Yunlan talking about repayment, to a first kiss he’s not going to forget in a hurry, to a baffling amount of space between them.

“Behave.”

“Is that a yes?”

“Zhao Yunlan.”

His chest suddenly felt horrifyingly empty, the void threatening to consume him whole, but he swallowed and lied,

“I do.”

Shen Wei almost physically felt his reality shift at the thought. They had little time left.

Wu Xie pinches his arm harshly, letting out a hiss of pain. Kunlun wants to immediately reach forward to stop him but doesn't want to startle the man. "Hallucinating then? Sleep deprivation can cause those, right?"
Kunlun's eyebrows scrunch closer. "Why would I be? Do you not want me here?" He isn't able to bury all the hurt from his voice. Had he already disappointed this new follower?
"What? No no no. You're great here." Wu Xie reaches out and rests a hand on Kunlun's forearm. The eagerness to reassure Kunlun eases the worry that had been rising up within the god.

University student, Wu Xie, is just trying his best to finish the last year of his architecture degree when a late night studying ends up with a god he had only read about appearing before him. Back when Zhao Yunlan was still in college, Shen Wei starts teaching a qigong/neigong/tai chi (he has a class on each and then exercises from each) activity at school, after a fellow professor saw him doing an exercise one day and suggested it and then there was interest from his students and then he's suddenly in charge of multiple classes of it.

And then Zhao Yunlan tries to sign up.

""I don’t know where they could have come from, but they look like Lichtenberg Figures,” Dr. Cheng says measuredly.

“What?”

“A Lichtenberg Figure is the name for a type of scarring that occurs when people get struck by lightning, but I’ve never actually seen it in person before,” she explains. “Did these just appear?”

“Yeah, must have, I mean—I’ve never seen them on him before, but how—” Zhao Yunlan pauses. Shen Wei could not have just been struck by lightning inside this very apartment, but if not lightning then light itself—the weird explosion of light that preceded his seizure—energy systems—light energy—“Oh.” Oh no. Shen Wei what the hell did you do—"
