Shen Wei coughed up blood. He'd been fighting here for long enough he'd lost track of the passage of time, and now his strength was failing.

Ye Zun has just freed himself from the pillar and brought himself to Haixing when weakness overtakes him. Then his traitorous brother and Zhao Yunlan arrive on the scene.

Ye Zun has a very complicated relationship with his brother.

The collision of Shen Wei’s adopted home and his native land is exacerbated by strengthening echoes of the past.  Haixing wants him. Dixing wants his brother. Everyone wants the secrets of the spaceship, and its power will go to whoever can control it.

Shen Wei just wants peace: for his family and for all people.  If he has to invoke the legendary leaders of the Alliance to get it, he will.

Shen Wei finds sleep elusive at the best of times. On a night like this, it’s no surprise that it slips through his fingers like the wind.

“But I am not a qualified personal trainer,” Zhu Yilong says, frowning. He suppresses the urge to shift from foot to foot or to cross his arms. He is uncomfortable but there is no need to broadcast it with such obvious tells.
Bai Yu beams at him as if he’s just said something particularly clever. “And that’s why you will be perfect, Long-ge.”

Getting together had been gradual but inevitable, Bai Yu realizes when he looks back on their relationship. It feels natural that they've ended up here, like this.

There was almost a meditative quality to it, each knot settling into place against Shen Wei’s skin, Ye Zun carefully testing and adjusting them as he went. After each knot he brushed a kiss against the bare skin above it. An act of reverence, Zhao Yunlan thought at first, but no, it was not that, or not merely that. He gradually came to realize that each knot, each kiss, was an apology.

It was late when Zhao Yunlan arrived at the university, still furious at how the case had turned out. But now the team were safely back at the SID, and he was here, instinctively, idiotically, looking for answers from the only person he knew to ask.
