“Don’t be silly, I’m not Ye Zun,” Ye Zun says—it’s obviously Shen Wei’s fucking little brother. “He has classes. How can he be here? I think you’ve worked too hard today.”

Case-fic (sort of) where they investigate a photographer. Kind of.

Shen Wei does not expect the first time he meets Zhao Yunlan's mother to go like this.

“It’s certainly a pleasure,” said Yunlan, turning to look at the storefront that concealed the club, hands in his pockets, rocking back onto his heels. The line of his body drew Shen Wei’s eye, and, he assumed, the eye of any sentient being with any sense. “Good job on the outfit, by the way. It’ll do nicely.”

This was an unexpected danger.

If Yunlan is going to learn how to make actual food that requires more effort than just boiling water and putting hot water into stuff, he’s going to have to take all the notes.

“Right,” he says to himself. “How hard can it be?”

He watches all twenty-two minutes and fourteen seconds of Chef Shen's video without fast-forwarding. When it comes to an end, he clicks on the replay button.

He ends up taking zero notes, and the only thing he manages to learn from the whole exercise is that Chef Shen -Shen Wei- is really fucking beautiful when he smiles.

Shen Wei knows his brother needs him but YunLan needs him too. He tries to compromise, which leads them all down a dark and dangerous path.

Shen Wei wants him to and Ye Zun likes it, he really does.

Ye Zun sees YunLan and Shen Wei in a compromising position and he jumps to the wrong conclusion based on his own experiences.

Zhao Xin Ci received the phone call at 2.47am, Tuesday. Sixteen months after the death of his son.

“Sir, there has been an incident at Number 4,” a pause as if the person on the other end didn't know what to say, “It appears to be your son and the Dixing member known as Shen Wei.”
